Technical Process of comb foudation production line

Making comb foundation is a complicated task, requiring not only skill and experience but also a costly foundation mill, preferably of the type composed of two precision-engraved rollers, used by manufacturers. While a few large-scale beekeeping operators and cooperatives may be in a position to own such a mill, most beekeepers find it more convenient to buy their foundation ready-made.

Processing:  All of the beeswax that we use in comb foundation manufacture is first heated to approx 110 deg C  before being micro filtered to remove all dross and moisture.

The filtered liquid beeswax then passes to the “Weed Process” sheeting machine.  This converts the beeswax from a liquid state into a continuous flat sheet  and is one of the secrets of making high quality comb foundation.  During this process, the beeswax gains greatly in elasticity and strength to the point where a piece of cold comb foundation can be scrunched up and then flattened out again without breaking.

The rolls of sheet then pass to the automatic milling machine.  The pure beeswax sheet passes between two precision engraved rollers which imprint the pattern onto the beeswax.

The continuous sheet is then cut to width before being cut to length.  The finished sheets are then weighed before being packed in cartons.

Throughout the process, stringent quality control checks are continuously carried out.

The life of our Comb Foundation if stored in its original packaging in dry conditions is indefinite.  Because of its purity, it is not attacked by wax moths.

Part 1- Melting Cappings

Wax foundation is a thin sheet of beeswax that is embossed with the hexagonal shape that the bees naturally form for their honeycomb.

Most beeswax foundation is contaminated from the use of toxic chemicals used by beekeepers in the hives to treat disease. The chemicals remain in the wax, which is processed into wax foundation. Most beekeepers purchase this commercial foundation for use in their hives. Organic standards allow plastic foundation dipped in organic beeswax, but many organic beekeepers including Volcano Island Honey Company and Hawaiian Queen Company, feel strongly that plastic should not be used in bee hives.

Making beeswax foundation in a small-scale farm setting is a lost art, there are not many people who know how to do it as the process has been industrialized in developed countries. The fact that it is not possible to purchase organic foundation makes this project a necessity for apiaries who do not want to use plastic foundations.

How to make your beeswax foundation better?

Along with the labor intensity involved in making them, the craft of making beeswax cell foundations is becoming increasingly specialized thanks to the ready availability of prefabricated plastic or wax cell foundations. However, some apiary experts are keeping this knowledge alive and also encouraging a DIY attitude. According to Volcano Island Honey, making your own organic cell foundation is healthier than commercially made versions, which use wax that may contain leftover contaminants or inorganic plastic.

Why shall we make beeswax foundation by ourselves?

Beekeepers give bees a wax foundation upon which to build comb to store honey. There is currently no organic wax foundation commercially available in the United States. Most beeswax foundation is contaminated due to the use of toxic chemicals used by beekeepers in the hives to treat disease. The chemicals remain in the wax, which is processed into foundation. Organic standards will soon require apiaries to use organic foundation. While organic standards allow plastic foundation dipped in organic beeswax, many beekeepers including KINGREAL Beekeeping tools Factory, feel strongly that plastic should not be used in bee hives.

Project of Beeswax foundation embossing machines for Yemen

1. In Yemen, the bees are apis yemenitica - a small, dark bee which thrives in the hot, dry conditions. The cell size is about 4.7mm. For confirm this size, our customer has sent me a beewax foundation sample and test the cell size according to our way how to measure the cell size of the beeswax foundation roller.

2. Electrical beeswax foundation roller is popular in Yemen, but the electricity is not stable there. So we prepare the hand crank for the electrical machines so they can change it into manual ones when the power is off.

3. As an exclusive agent in Yemen for our beekeeping equipments and beeswax foundation machines. His company order 7 machines at once so we will ship it by ocean. So the package is standard sea worthy package.
